What is Heavy Towing?

Everyone knows that if you have a truck or car breakdown, that a tow truck will be needed to get it to a shop. So, what happens if a semi-truck, or a class A motorhome breaks down? Just a normal tow truck will not be able to tow these large vehicles. This is where heavy towing comes into play. A heavy tower is a tow truck that has the capability to tow larger, heavy vehicles that weigh within the range of 17,000 pounds to 48,000 pounds. These trucks are meant to be able to rescue large vehicles when they have undergone an accident, or just will not start.

Do You Need Heavy Towing?

Not only is heavy towing a great option if you have a large vehicle that needs a strong, capable truck to get you where you need to be, it is also a great option if you would not like to do any further damage to your vehicle. Despite a towing company;s best effort, there is no guarantee that a vehicle will not sustain damage, especially if the vehicle is too heavy for the tow truck. However, it is important to research your options to make sure that you get the right truck for your towing needs.

What Vehicles Need a Heavy Tow Truck?

When wondering about what types of vehicles need to use a heavy tower, just think of the types of vehicles that need a special license to drive on the road. The license that is needed would be 5-8 which includes large industrial vehicles. These types of vehicles include:

Buses

Whether it is a school bus, a tour bus, or even a city bus, a heavy tower would be needed if any sort of accident occurs, or if there is a breakdown. All of these buses will be too large to be towed by any other class of tow truck, so a heavy one will be needed.

Motorhomes

Any type of motorhome including RVs or other mobile residentials will need the strength and capacity of a heavy tower to be towed. These motorhomes are an exception to the rule of needing a special license to drive.

Large Trucks and Vans

Having a large truck or van could also warrant needing a heavy tower to be able to be towed. These types of large vans or trucks include delivery vans, or even delivery trucks with trailers. Because these types of vehicles are larger than just the commuter car, or even the farm truck, there is no way that a utility tow truck would be able to tow them if needed, therefore, a heavy tower would be necessary in order to get it to where it needs to be.

City Service Vehicles

Large vehicles that are used by the city also need to be towed by heavy towers. These vehicles include fire trucks, ambulances, equipment that is used for construction projects, large tractors, or even semi-trucks. Because all of these vehicles are so large, there is a need for a large towing capacity. This is why heavy tow trucks are so necessary today.

Heavy Towing Services

Towing a large vehicle requires special equipment that is more than just a tow truck. The equipment must be strong and capable enough to get Class A vehicles towed to safety. We have the heavy towing machinery that is needed to get these large vehicles out from an accident. Some of the services that we offer include:

HEAVY WRECKERS

We have a fleet of heavy wreckers that are capable of hauling broken down semi-trucks, trailers, Class A buses, and Class A motorhomes. These heavy wreckers make sure that your large vehicles are able to make it to the shop after breaking down. These are actual trucks that will do the towing of the vehicle. They will tow your large vehicle to a shop so that you can get back on the road in no time.

FLATBED

We have tilt-deck trailers capable of loading vehicles without causing damage. We also have heavy-haul trailers rated to tow up to 120,000 pounds. These flatbeds are great when it comes to cargo that may be easily damaged or flammable. The trailer or the whole entire vehicle can be put on the flatbed and then taken to the desired destination. The flatbeds can also tow the entirety of the vehicle. If you are carrying cargo that may be easily damaged, or would like no damage that is incurred to your vehicle while being towed, then you may want to consider the flatbed option.
